Letter from the Editor, April 2020
Hello Subscribers, and welcome to the April 2020 edition of The Hurdle Magazine. If last month’s issue was the “Coronavirus issue,” then this month’s issues is a continuation of that. And there will most likely be plenty more to come, assumedly, as we all adapt to this new normal that hopefully won’t stay normal for too long.
In This month’s issue, the coronavirus is front and center once again. Freelance writer Melinda Burris Willms’ article, “The Home/Virtual Gym” gives advice on how to build a training center inside the house for strength training and cardio training. Freelance writer Savannah Cress’ “The Class of 2020” takes a look at the effects of a lost season for track athletes from high school on up to Olympians. And this month’s workout, “In the Park Workout,” is one I designed for athletes who have access to a park where they can maintain social distance.
In Willm’s other article, “Theragun Percussion Therapy,” she delves into the use of theraguns as a means of recovering from injury and addressing muscle soreness after workouts.
The second article that I wrote, “Transcending Technique,” is an article in which I discuss why technique matters in relation to other aspects that lead to hurdling excellence. The premise of the article is that mastering technique enhances one’s strength and speed, etc.
In the third article that I wrote, “Onward with Renaldo,” I discuss my progress on the biography I am working on about the legendary Renaldo Nehemiah, and provide a few insights about his life that many people may not know.
Enjoy the articles, stay in shape, and stay in the house.
